FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Short answer: Most sessions run from 90 minutes to 2 hours.

Long answer: Most clients get relief from their major complaint in the first session, and longer-term results within 5 sessions. However, this is dependent on the condition being treated and what the client is looking accomplish. Weekly sessions at the start of treatment produce faster results; gradual reduction of session frequency sets the client up for long-term maintenance. Once a client is doing well for an entire month between sessions, we discontinue treatment or move onto a new goal. The intent is to get clients to a point where they no longer need treatment, but can and want to refer their friends!

The cornerstone of Structural Energetic Therapy is Cranial/Structural technique, which mobilizes the tissue along the spine that holds the hips out of alignment. Once the hips are realigned, they do a better job of supporting the rest of the body. This lets soft tissue bodywork (aka massage) do a better job of breaking up muscle adhesions and hydrating the fascia (aka connective tissue, tendons, and ‘gristle’). This allows the body to come into even better alignment.

Both Structural Energetic Therapy and Chiropractic Therapy work to balance the body to increase function and decrease pain. Chiropractic lines up the bones first, and then gradually releases the soft tissue. SET Therapy addresses the soft tissue first and releases restrictions that hold the body out of alignment. Soft tissue bodywork frees up nerve impingement, hydrates and lengthens the muscles and fascia, and improves blood flow. Targeting the soft tissue to balance the structure is a faster and more effective method of achieving long-term results.

SET Therapy is not spa treatment. It is therapeutic in nature and can involve some intense sensation. While spa massages may be temporarily relaxing, SET therapy is transformative. It’s long-term results include decreased or eliminated pain, and a stronger, more durable body.

Not necessarily. It depends on the treatment. For Cranial/Structural and breath work, clients can remain clothed. Many clients prefer more athletic wear when receiving this type of treatment. For soft tissue bodywork, clients can wear either shorts (and a bra if female) or swimwear. In any case, draping is available for modesty/privacy.
